Julie Johnstone

works by laurie clark

Drawings by Laurie Clark have featured in several Essence Press publications. A series of buttercup drawings were published in issue 6 of island. Her drawings of melodeons were featured in the BREATH box, and a drawing of a single leaf is found in a work by Maria White called two leaves.

breath

BREATH features work inspired by the theme of breathing. Text works, poems and poem fragments by Jane Hirshfield, Autumn Richardson, Jayne Wilding and JL Williams are intermingled with drawings of melodeons by the artist Laurie Clark. read more on the BREATH page

two leaves

Two leaves by Maria White is a teasing play on language and the properties of the book form. This slim book offers the reader first a leaf drawing by Laurie Clark, and then simply a page or ‘another leaf’ of the book.
