two frames [2% 1% | 1% 2%]

handbound booklet  |  h 190mm x w 190mm, closed  |  printed inkjet on 300gsm Bockingford watercolour paper; linen thread  |  consists of two sheets, one making a cover, the second the inner page; the left hand square is a 2% tint of black frame and a 1% inner square; the right hand square is a 1% tint frame and a 2% inner square  |  2016  |  £10  |  purchase

two frames [2% 1% | 1% 2%] is part of a series of books where what happens when the book is closed is of interest – the bringing together of two facing pages brings together two pieces of content. Something happens, but it is beyond the physical sight of the reader. Here, the contrasting tints meet and perhaps the objects merge and cancel each other out.

small handbound booklet  |  h 90mm x w 90mm, closed  |  printed inkjet on 300gsm Bockingford watercolour paper; linen thread  |  consists of two sheets, one making a cover, the second the inner page; the left hand square is a 1% tint frame with an empty centre; the right hand square is a 3% frame with an empty centre  |  2016  |  £5  |  purchase

A smaller version, mimicking a small handheld closing photo frame, perhaps, with a narrower border/frame. Here the book explores the illusion of how the ‘imprint’ of the right hand square might be left on the left hand side when the book is closed and then opened again. Both frames are empty.
